Layzellpr Layzell Public Relations for publishers and the arts The Poetic Museum: Reviving Historic Collections by Julian Spalding, published by Prestel on Thursday 28th March 2002 price £24.95 hb., was featured in a large number of British and Scottish newspapers, specialist journals, radio and television. The campaign was
fuelled by two controversies. Firstly, those sectors of the Scottish media
who had pursued a campaign targeting Julian Spalding as the controversial
former Director of Glasgow Museums and Galleries. Secondly, in an article
in the New Statesman, Julian extrapolated a theme in his book to ask about
the way in which Tate Modern and the National Gallery had seemed to divide
their buying policies, assigning all post-1900 art to the Tate, without
reference to their trustees or the public. It was a brisk and exciting
campaign. (click here to return to Layzellpr home page) |
